ENTRY RULES 2010

ARTICLE 1

The Pierre & Alexandra Boulat Association, created to promote the work of Pierre & Alexandra Boulat and encourage the work of photojournalists has created an award, supported by a CANON Europe endowment of 8 000 euros which will be given to a photo- journalist here called « applicant »

ARTICLE 2 - OBJECTIVE
The award is presented to a professional photographer of any age, sex or nationality who wishes to cover a social, economic, political or cultural issue in a journalistic manner, on presentation of a dossier, including the documents and works stipulated in Article 5. The Award is given in order to allow the winner to produce a story that has never been told but that the photographer cannot find support for within the media.
The work has to be completed only by a photographer alone.

ARTICLE 3 - ORGANISATION
ENTRY IS FREE.

Application dossiers can be downloaded on the website of VII: http://viiphoto.com/association.html or sent my e-mail to the photographer, under request, to annie@cosmosphoto.com The application dossier must be postmarked no later than June 30, 2010 and must be sent without acknowledgement of receipt to the following address:

The « applicant » agrees that, should he or she win the Award, he/she will include the title « Winner of the Pierre & Alexandra Boulat Association, supported by Canon Europe », in the photo-reportage and in all communication connected with it and that he/she will keep the Association, Canon Europe and Images Evidence informed about the progress of the project and what results he/she has obtained.

In case they would want to do so, he/she also agrees to let the Association and/or Canon exhibit his/her photographs financed by the award and be included in a Catalogue or Promotional material that promotes the Association or its activities.

The« applicant » agrees that, should he/she obtain the Award, he will not present the same project for any other Award until the Visa Pour l'Image - Perpignan Festival 2011, when his/her work financed by the award will be exhibited or presented during an evening show.

In July 2010, the jury, formed by members of the association, will be pre-selecting and studying the dossiers. Final selection will be made in Perpignan, during Visa pour l'Image-Perpignan 2010, by a jury chosen among the personalities present in Perpignan at the time.

The winner of the grant will receive the 8 000 euros in 2 parts : the first one at Visa Pour l'Image - Perpignan in September, and the second one after showing the first part of his/her work to Images Evidence, the Association and Canon Europe six months later.

Should he/she obtain the grant, the Applicant agrees to finish his/her photo-reportage by the 15th of April 2011 at the latest, to enable his/her work to be available, if possible, for exhibition or showing evening during the International Festival of Photojournalism « Visa pour l'Image- Perpignan » which will take place during the first three weeks of September 2011.

For the publicity related to the prize, the winner commits to give three high resolution images free of charge on a CD Rom as well as a portrait of himself/herself to Canon Europe, the Association and Images Evidence. The Award is given in order to allow the winner to carry out the photo-reportage which has been presented for the Award.

Once his/her work has been completed, he/she also commits to give three photos free of charge to the latter and a CD with all the high resolution images from the project he/she realized thanks to the award. The winners also agree to provide two signed prints from the work to the Association.

The Winner agrees not to reapply for a period of 5 years.

ARTICLE 4 - JURY
The jury, which will be made up of members of persons of good standing in the profession, magazines editors, book publishers, photographers and curators, will give the Award based on the professional qualities of the applicant and the relevance and originality of the project.
The jury's decision is final and will be carried by majority vote after due deliberation. The jury can decide not to give the Award if it considers that none of the applications is worthy of it.

ARTICLE 5 _ APPLICATION CONDITIONS
The conditions are as follows:

- Applicants must have completed at least one photo-reportage (published or unpublished) - applicants must be professional photojournalists

- Applicants must be able to write and speak in French or English Applicants must send two copies of their application. The format has to be A4, unbound. The application dossier will include the following items:

A - On a CD: 1 - a curriculum vitae 2 - a letter in support of the application including a description of the photo-reportage project (maximum 3 typed pages). This letter must remain anonymous and must not contain anything that would allow the candidate to be identified 3 - a projected budget for the photo-reportage project for which the Award is to be used if obtained. N.B .If the financing of the project is to be extended to other partners, these must be approved by Canon Europe, the Association and Images Evidence who reserve the right not to cite them 4 - a photo-reportage in black and white or colour : between 10 and 20 pictures on a CD Rom (only CD's will be taken under consideration). 5 - scans of publications if possible

B - On blank paper size A4 : 6 - a signed application form 7 - a photocopy of the applicant's identity card or passport 8 - an affidavit stating that the candidate is a professional photojournalist Material specifications for CD Rom - CD Rom low resolution - with captions written in the File Info field, - only JPEG accepted (no TIFF or PSD) - maximum images size : 3 MB - Each Picture file has to be named and numbered, in the order the photograph would like them to be shown to the jury

The CDs must be clearly labelled with the name of the applicants NB : CD who will not respect those precise specifications will be out of competition Books or any other format will not be considered. There should be no evidence on the pictures of the applicant's identity in order to maintain the anonymity of the dossiers. The photographs can be numbered.

ARTICLE 6 _ LIABILITY
Canon Europe, the Association and Images Evidence reserve the right to cancel granting the Award under the present rules at any time and for whatever reason.

ARTICLE 7 _ REGISTRATION AND CONSULTATION OF THE ENTRY RULES
These entry rules will be sent free of charge if requested from the Association These rules are only subject to French law. Only the French language version of the be deemed authentic in the event of litigation.
