VII is proud to announce that Sim Chi Yin has received the 2014 Her World Young Woman Achiever Award!

“The Her World Young Woman Achiever award was launched in 1999 and recognizes a young woman who aims higher and reaches further to achieve more. Her achievements have surpassed existing boundaries, inspiring those around her and paving the way for others in the future. She has also demonstrated the potential for attaining a higher level of success in her chosen field.” On October 17, 2014 Her World hosted an ceremony to honor this year’s winners of the Woman of the Year and Young Woman Achiever awards.

Chi Yin was honored for her achievements in photography and passion for social justice. Her World Plus writes in the award announcement, “What Chi Yin has done with this fascination with the world has been extraordinary, a transmogrification that’s perhaps the ultimate distillation of photography as art: “Today, I am still often awed and excited by what taking a picture really is: capturing that magical instant where time, light and human life intersect.”

VII's New Operations Manager

Dear friends of VII,

We hope you will join us in saying congratulations and bid a fond farewell to Amy Connors. After managing VII’s website, archive and sales this past year, Amy moves on to the New Yorker, where she will be working on digital and special projects production. We are incredibly proud of Amy as she moves forward in her life and career, working with the great team there.

VII is now pleased to announce that Giana Choroszewski will be taking the reins as the agency’s Operations Manager. Giana joins us from SheKnows.com where she worked as the Photo Editor for the past six years. If you have not already been introduced to Giana, please feel free to reach out to her with any questions you may have, or any projects that you’d like to discuss, at giana@viiphoto.com.

Congratulations, Amy and welcome, Giana!

VII is proud to partner with Reporters Without Borders to produce the latest volume of “100 Photos for Press Freedom.” The collection, which will be published May 7, 2014, takes readers from Afghanistan to Russia and North Korea through work by the photographers of VII, and is enhanced with previously unpublished pieces by French writer Philippe Labro, the legendary US investigative reporter Seymour Hersh and the Australian editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, writing from his refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. All proceeds from the sales of this book support Reporters Without Borders.

An English-language App version of the book has been released internationally in the Apple Store.
