The Pierre & Alexandra Boulat Association Award 2013, supported by CANON France, has selected Arnau Bach, a Spanish photographer who presented a remarkable black and white body of work on the Parisian suburbs.

“The PIERRE & ALEXANDRA BOULAT ASSOCIATION AWARD would allow me to explore its poor suburbs, stigmatized for criminality, and he traditional fishing sector which has seen its share of the port diminished and the inhabitants who have been forced to leave the popular areas of the center. It would allow me to show all the aspects of Marseille’s culture which have been excluded from the main events, to get close to the inhabitants and capture their hopes and frustrations from an intimate and personal perspective,” says Arnau.

The winner was chosen by a jury consisting of Jean-Luc Monterosso (Maison Européenne de la Photographie), Jérôme Huffer (Paris Match), Antoinette Boulat (casting director), Jean-François Camp (Central Dupon Images) and Christopher Morris (VII). The grant will be officially presented to Arnau Bach during an evening show at Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan, France in September 2013.
