Yale Unviversity presents a group documentary photography exhibition, Digging for Gold, highlighting the socio-ecological impacts of gold mining in Peru, Mozambique, Romania, Spain, Greece, Burkina Faso, and the Philippines. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 6-7PM. On display in the atrium of Kroon Hall. The exhibition features work by Ron Haviv, Larry C. Price, Delmi Alvarez, and Robin Hammond.

David Gonzalez (MEM ’15) will speak about his summer researching the health impacts of mercury use in gold mining in Madre de Dios, Peru. Hyacinthe Nare (MEM ’15) will explain the rise of the gold rush in Burkina Faso, since the 2003 Mining Code passed to promote investment in mining.
