with Sim Chi Yin
Aug. 6, 2015 – Jan. 3, 2016
8 Raffles Ave, Singapore
On the occasion of Singapore’s 50th birthday, 20 Singaporean photographers including VII’s Sim Chi Yin got together to self-publish a series of zines, each telling a story of their own. The TwentyFifteen group exhibition opens August 6, 2015 at the Esplanade in Singapore.
Chi Yin’s zine, the 19th in the series, will be launched Sept 5. In it she explores her family’s roots in China and her identity as an overseas Chinese through the story of her paternal grandfather who was deported from Malaya to China in 1949 and died fighting for the Chinese Communist Party.
A limited edition print from that new work of her is now on sale.
